VA 28% and Low MFI for Film and HMA

Evatane 28-05 technical

Evatane 28-05 is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer positioned at the low-flow end of the Arkema Evatane EVA range. It carries about 28% vinyl acetate and a melt flow index near 5 g/10 min, giving the resin strong melt strength and high internal cohesion.

What the Numbers Mean

  • VA 28% — a balanced level of flexibility and polarity for broad compatibility.
  • MFI 5 — low flow that holds bubble and bead shape during film and adhesive processing.
  • Density 0.950 g/cm³, melting point 72 °C, Shore A 80 — a moderately soft, heat-stable copolymer.
  • Elongation 700-1000% and tensile strength around 24 MPa — tough and extensible.

Processing Note

Because the melt flow is low, the resin needs higher shear and torque in the extruder. That same property is what makes it valuable for blown and cast film, where melt strength prevents bubble instability, and for high-cohesion hot melt bases that must carry load. Dry the pellets before use and ramp barrel temperature gradually to avoid thermal degradation.
