High Polarity for Flame-Retardant Cable

HFFR cable compound

Evatane 33-45 combines 33% vinyl acetate with a melt flow index of about 45, giving a highly polar, easy-processing base polymer suited to halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) cable jacketing and insulation.

Property Profile

  • VA 33% (32-34%) — high polarity for filler wetting.
  • MFI 45 (40-50) — good dispersion of mineral fillers.
  • Density 0.950 g/cm³, melting point about 68 °C, Shore A 78.
  • Strong affinity to ATH and MDH flame-retardant fillers.

Why It Fits HFFR

Halogen-free cable compounds rely on high loadings of aluminium trihydrate (ATH) or magnesium dihydroxide (MDH). The polarity of 33-45 wets these fillers well, helping achieve high filler loading with acceptable mechanicals and a smooth extrusion surface — while avoiding halogen chemistry.

Typical Uses

HFFR cable jacketing and insulation, low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) compounds, and other highly filled flame-retardant systems.
